Finding Your Scrapbook Style

One of the first and most important decisions you have to make before you begin your scrapbook is which size of scrapbook paper is right for you.

There are several different sizes of paper to choose from, and what project you are working on will determine what paper size is right for you.

You can choose the 8.5″ x 11″ paper that will allow you to use any standard three-ring binder for your scrapbook.

Or, if you are a person who takes more photographs or a person who needs more space when you are creating your work of art, then you should choose the 12″ x 12″ scrapbooks.

If at allpossible, it is highly recommended that you try tofind one that has a side binder effect, so that you can rearrange your pages once you are finished them. Some stores sell the old-fashioned style scrapbooks.

This type has the heavy cardstock for pages and has a binding on the side. This would be a good book to use if you want to document a particular person, activity or event.

The next thing you need to decide is what kind of style you want to do your pages in. To do this, you need to think about what your interests are, what photos you are going to be scrapping, and if there is a particular theme you want to use with those photos.

Are you then classic “classic”? If so, you can add some classic cars to your design or recall a classic novel or movie title. The classic style exudes timelessness, and is a clean and uncluttered look. Perhaps you are the more crafty type.

If so, you would be more likely to want to add things such as beads, charms, eyelets, ribbon or even yarn to your pages.

The craft style is about handiwork, about mixing and matching a variety of elements, about light- heartedness and expressing your talent at tying it all together.

So; whether you are shabby chic, heritage bound, classic, modern or just playing with pop; there are a wealth of resources, stores and web sites out there to help you find all the supplies and ideas you are looking for.
