Rubber Stamps on Pages

Rubber stamps are probably just as versatile as stencils. Like stencils they are used by a variety of crafters in a variety of different hobbies.

Also like stencils they can be used with a variety of mediums. The fact that they are easy to use, versatile and safe even for young crafters is more than like the key factors in their longevity in the crafting world. Many people choose rubber stamps as one of their tools because they can allow their young children to use them to help with the scrapbook.

For these reasons I would like to take a little time to discuss just a few of the many different ways rubber stamps can be used on scrapbook pages.

There are a variety of types of rubber stamps that you can use in your scrapbooking. The first, and most widely known, is the basic rubber stamp. This stamp has a design on the bottom which, when padded in ink, is pressed onto the page. This versatile stamp makes for quick, easy, simple embellishments in your scrapbook.

The next type of stamp I’d like to mention is the design rubber stamp. This is used in quite the same way with a different result. You ink the stamp, press it on your paper and it leaves just the outline of the object. You then let the ink dry and use your medium of choice to color or fill it in.

Another technique that can be used in conjunction with your rubber stamps is embossing. You’ll want to use a slow-drying ink for this. Simply dab, press and then pour a generous amount of embossing powder on the ink. Pour the excess embossing powder back into its container to be used again.

You can also use brush markers to change the colors of certain parts of your stamp. This is a simple technique that will add a little extra pizzazz to your stamping and your scrapbook.

As you can see, rubber stamps have a place in every scrapbookers tote, no matter how experienced or inexperienced. And no matter what your reason for choosing stamps as an embellishment tool, you’re sure to have a pleasant experience with them.
