Sewing With Fusible Thread

Sewing with fusible threads is adds to the fun and convenience of sewing activity. To make multiple tasks more simple and easy, you need to fill up a bobbin gradually in your lower looper. As you finish your complete stitching, fusible thread generates a temporary bond to keep and hold things in place. It is not advisable to make its use for permanent seams. For an ideal bias binding, you can make use of a fusible thread in the bobbin. You can also use a zigzag stitch in order to fix it with the garment or quilt. Now, to make just the right binding all the time, you can stitch in the ditch or well of the line of stitching.

You can set up central zippers; stitch down both backsides with fusible thread. Center the zipper and push in place. Without any shifting, you now topstitch the zipper. Then by removing the basted sewed up part, you can unlock the closure and zip your fastener.

Fusible threads have their best use, when you wish to match tartan or some other design. You can use stitches in a straight line on the right side of the fabric 1/2″ from the border with fusible thread on the peak. Then by folding the seam over on the 5/8″ stitching line, you are required to press and fuse the fabric in place after lining up the edge with the 5/8″ seam line on the other seam.

Then on, after matching of the design is over and seized, you can sew the stitching line in a normal manner.

You can bring fusible thread into picture, while working with duplicate suede or not so easy fabrics, so that they can be firmly held and rightly placed during stitching time. Also, make use of it to sketch the fuse. Fusible threads will also find use in the outline of your fabric.

Place a length of fusible cord in the pleat of your pants for the fold to be grasped. It is advisable to hack a thread lengthier than you in fact need. Do not fuse or iron the thread in the folds of the fabric. The edge of the fabric should be surged with the fusible thread in the lower part of the looper. Press to hold and also turn the hem to give the finishing touches to your stitching
In this manner, the fusible thread can be used for various purposes. Do try using it for trap unto as well as basting. Trying several such techniques will surely make sense..
